SEG Student Mail 10/19/18

Parent Teacher conference

Your child received a paper copy of the form attached in today’s email for PT conference signups.  Please make sure to choose a date and time slot for your conference, return it to your child’s homeroom teacher and they will email you your exact conference time upon receipt.  Conferences are run in 5-minute rotating blocks of time with a teacher.  In years past we had two days for conference.  We now have three dates available and hope to see everyone there! Additional information is attached in this email and more will follow in future Friday emails about locations and exact conference logistics.  Use this week to sign up!

Drop off / Pick up

As the weather gets cold, please help the drop off and pick up process by dropping your child off on one of the side streets and allowing them to walk a short distance to the school.  Lincoln Ave., although handling the increased traffic, gets full quickly if everyone drops off there.  Additionally, the bus drops off there and cars need to provide access for it.

Information is included in this week’s email attachment about winter clubs.  There are many exciting opportunities for students this winter and we hope that they take advantage of these.  For the first time ever, a student interest survey helped develop some of these clubs offered!  This is very exciting and we hope we have many participants.  The signup deadline is November 2nd

Instagram and Screen time

Scholastic and Instagram have teamed up to put information out about social media and screen time.  This link will take you to the Scholastic website, which has many useful resources. - instagram_video

Kindness Week

District 95 was approached by a local group to share an opportunity as Thanksgiving approaches.  The Christian Fellowship Church - located across the street from S.E. Gross Middle School - will have Thanksgiving meals available for families who are in need this year. In the past, the meals have included a turkey and a box of staple items (stuffing, cranberries, etc...). The meals will be supplied on Saturday, November 17th. If you are interested, you can pick it up from the Christian Fellowship Church, or it can be delivered to your home on the 17th. Please contact Ryan Evans at by October 19th if you are interested in this opportunity. All information remains confidential.
