SEG Student Mail 10/26/18

Construction Update

As winter approaches we are happy to see the roof begin to go on SEG’s new gymnasium.  Also, in our new cafeteria, band room, art room, and STEM lab; walls are beginning to get framed.  The progress is very exciting and we are still on time to be prepared for next school year!Halloween Dance Tonight!

The Halloween Dance is tonight!  Thank you to everyone who is volunteering to help at the event.  We look forward to the students having a great time at this awesome PTO sponsored event.  Please remind your children, as we have done, that they may come in costume, masks can be worn for the costume contest but not as students move around, and no simulated weapons.  Also, we spoke about appropriate behavior at the dance.  We encouraged students to have a good time with friends and not bringing misbehavior or drama into the event.  Thank you for reiterating that with your children.  The dance concludes at 8:30am.

Internet Safety Presentation

We were fortunate to have a speaker, Kathleen McGown, come today from the education department of the State’s Attorney’s Office.  Kathleen speaks all over the Chicagoland area to better educate students about their presence and impact on social media and the internet.  She spoke to the students about how to make sure they and others are safe, and to stand up for others by reaching out to a trusted adult and asking for assistance.  These topics are so pertinent in today’s society; we were happy she could carve some time out from her busy schedule for our students.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Don’t forget to sign up for parent teacher conference.  The form for it is once again in the weekly mail.  After one week’s time, we have already heard back from 65% of families.  Thank you!

Band Concert

Our Warrior Band will be road warriors this year until our new space is complete.  For the upcoming concert on Tuesday the 30th we will be at Nazareth Academy in LaGrange Park for a 6:30pm performance.  Future performances will be at RBHS’s auditorium, as they will be able to provide us space for those events.
