Superstar Families,

This was a great week at Brook Park and we are so excited about all of the exciting events before the end of the school year. One of those events is a 4th/5th Grade Family Movie Night that will be held tonight in the MP Room (enter through Door #17) and we will be watching Space Jam 2. The doors open at 6:30 and the movie will start no later than 6:45.
There are a few important items before the weekend:

Volunteer Breakfast

District 95 will be hosting our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on Friday, May 13th from 7:30 am - 9:00 am in the Brook Park Multipurpose Room. This is our first appreciation breakfast in a few years so we are recognizing volunteers from 2019 to the present. 

You can enter the building through Door #17 and please remember not to park on Harrison between 29th and 30th street because of bus drop-off.oiuy

We hope you can join us for a great breakfast and we thank you for volunteering!!!

Parent’s Guide to Enhancing Your Child’s Executive Functioning Skills:

Please see the attached flier to this exciting presentation on Executive Functioning skills presented by our District 95 Behavior Specialist, Katie Johns on May 11th. The link to sign up is also in the flier. 

SEL Blurb:
K-2: Kindergarten, first, and second grade learned about compromising this week.  See the attachment for the Big Three Ways to Compromise.

3-5: Third, fourth, and fifth grade continued to review and reinforce prior lessons.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is May 2nd-May 6th:

As part of the festivities, we will be hosting a raffle with gifts for the staff.  Please let us know if you would like to donate a gift card or basket. Gift cards from Target and local restaurants are always fan favorites.

District 95 Summer Work
The Buildings and Grounds department of District 95 is looking for temporary custodial summer
help this year.  Applicants should be over the age of 16.  Hours are 7am - 3:30pm Monday through Friday.  Work will include moving furniture and cleaning.  Pay for the position is $10 an hour.  If you or someone you know is interested please contact Rich Batka at [email protected].

 

 

Community Offerings:

SEG will be presenting Disney Lion King Jr on May 18th and May 19th at Brook Park School. The doors will open at 6pm and the play will begin at 6:30 pm. The cost of admission is $5 at night but the students will all get a chance to see it during the school day. The S.E. Gross plays are always outstanding and we hope your family can join us for the play!


Warrior Nation Summer Camp is offering basketball, volleyball, and soccer camps this summer from incoming 5th-8th graders. This camp will take place this year at Brook Park School! Click here for more information

BPC Events:

FOURTH & FIFTH GRADE MOVIE NIGHT, 6:30PM FRIDAY, APRIL 29!! Space Jam 2! Bring the Family, hangout with friends and enjoy drinks, snacks and pizza. This is not a dropoff event. Multipurpose Room. Enter at Door 17 (off of Harrison).

 

Teacher Appreciation Week May 2-6! As part of the festivities, we will be hosting a raffle with gifts for the staff. Please let us know if you would like to donate a gift card or basket. Arrange a raffle prize pick-up with [email protected]. In addition, our theme this year is Encanto. We have attached a thank you template for your student to complete and give to any staff member. Also, we will be hosting breakfast, lunch and other fun activities throughout the week.

 

BPC Meeting, 7pm, Tuesday, May 10: Last Meeting of the year in the Multipurpose Room (Enter Door 17) for a year in a review, BPC elections, honoring volunteers, and what's ahead for the rest of the year including events and volunteer opportunities. Kids welcome -- we will have a separate room setup.
