Dear D95 Community:
As we approach the start of the 2022-2023 school year, I can’t help but reflect on the past two years where we operated in what I suspect will be coined the “Covid Era”. We learned a lot about ourselves the last two years and I eagerly look forward to the upcoming school year where we will start with a bit of normalcy.
I am excited about a school year where our community can begin reengaging with the District through school visits, classroom volunteering, full extracurricular programming, and face to face interactions with staff. We have again increased staffing to address social/emotional needs, added staff to serve our growing ESL population, and have developed a strong professional development model to support a new math curriculum. In short, we have been working hard to continue providing an outstanding learning environment for our D95 kids.
Over the next three weeks, teachers will begin arriving at the buildings to set up classrooms, participate in mentor programs, work as teams to implement instructional changes, and participate in professional development related to instruction. Our paraprofessionals are coordinating schedules and collaborating with teachers. The custodial staff will finish its deep cleaning of the facilities and our grounds crew will be making the outside of our buildings inviting for the start of school. Our administrative assistants are putting the final touches on the informational pieces that will help the start of our year run smoothly. The administrative team is in the last stages of coordinating everything related to the building's operations and student instruction. It’s what the start of a typical year looks like!
As we enter the 2022-2023 school year, I know you will quickly find that your child is in an awesome place. I am excited that we will be able to showcase all the wonderful things that occur in D95 that have been hidden or overshadowed by the past two year’s unique circumstances. We will see you on August 23!
