Dear D95 Community:
The start of the 2020-2021 school year will be a start of school like none other. Know that we have been working diligently to develop a plan that would allow parents the opportunity to choose between a hybrid, in person model and a full remote model. It is our hope that we can soon be at a place where we can safely operate a full, in person instructional model.
On July 23, the D95 administrative team rolled out the D95 blueprint for opening schools to the public and school board. Please know that we have witnessed significant change to definitions, guidance, and ISBE related requirements-sometimes on a daily basis. Thus, the blueprint is our platform to produce an instructional model that allows opportunity and choice. Know that as we get further guidance and we learn how to exist in the Covid rule, aspects of the blueprint may change. Know that our priority is to provide in person opportunities while at the same time following the guidelines outlined by our state and local health departments.
As we approach delivering instruction in new ways, know that I suspect to hit some bumps in the road. Know that in true D95 fashion we will be continuously monitoring our model to ensure we are providing the best possible instruction. Our goal was to ensure our remote learners had a much more robust learning platform than the previous Spring. I am thrilled with the work that was done to improve upon that model. It will continue to get better as we learn and grow both as teachers and students.
The D95 community has thrived during challenging and adverse times. Of course, this instance will test our true limits. There is not a doubt in my mind that we are a district and community that can make this work. Remain positive, remain willing to pivot when required, let’s each do our part, let’s make this plan work for the long haul.
