BP Weekly Newsletter 11-20-2020

Hello Superstar Families,

At a time where focusing on being thankful is at the center, we want to express how thankful we are to all of our Brook Park families for all of your incredible support this year. We are proud of the students, parents and staff for completing the first trimester and still offering the Hybrid and Remote option for all of our families. We wanted to remind everyone that we are off school all next week (Nov 23-Nov 27) and the following week we will be taking an adaptive pause and all learning will take place at home (Nov 30-Dec 4). Dr. Kuzniewski sent an email (Click here to read) on November 13th explaining the rationale for the pause.  A few things before Thanksgiving break and the adaptive pause:

Thanksgiving and Adaptive Pause Health Certification/Concerns:

Hybrid families, please continue to self-certify your child daily during both the Thanksgiving break week and the adaptive pause! This will help us to monitor any health concerns that arise over the two weeks. You do not need to certify by 7 AM each day, but please do so by 5 PM. You can also email Mrs. Lebar, our school nurse at [email protected] in addition to completing the self-certification process. We are really looking forward to safely returning for the two weeks before Winter Break and appreciate your continued partnership in this effort!

Adaptive Pause:

Just a reminder that your child’s AM/PM session and times will remain the same during the adaptive pause week. Our goal is to have students’ day remain as similar to their hybrid schedule as possible. It is very important to set up a workspace with your child at home for this extended period of time.  We ask that you talk with your child about this prior to the pause starting. So important ideas to think about are as followed: Is there a table in the house to use?  Do you have a lap desk they can use?  Laying in bed with blankets on is not the most productive way to engage with the classroom. We hope you can help us to encourage them to have a dedicated spot for learning. We also would like students to participate in their Zoom classes with their cameras on as it helps both the teacher and other students better engage with each other.

Don’t forget you can pick up lunches from SE Gross during the Thanksgiving break and adaptive pause week. Find more information here.

Specials:

If your children are looking to stay busy during the week off, we have attached a link to the STEAM/Read Aloud Information. This is a great hands on opportunity to engage in some science lessons and listen to some great books.

Wellness:

Our District 95 Wellness Newsletter can be found at https://www.smore.com/rk45j This newsletter shares local and national resources related to COVID-19 as well as information, resources, and supports for our District 95 families. We hope that you find the information practical and relevant.

BPC:

We have attached the BPC Directory that comes out on a yearly basis. This is a great resource to connect with other Super Star Families!

We really hope you have a great Thanksgiving and we appreciate all of you for your support in this very difficult time!
