BP Weekly Newsletter 10-22-21

Superstar Families,

We hope everyone had a great week and we really saw the temperature drop this week. We will continue to go out for mask break/recess as long as the wind chill temperature is over 20 degrees and there is no rain/snow. It is important for students to have sweatshirts, coats, hats and gloves.

On a different note, next week is Red Ribbon Week and we will have special dress up days for every day and the information is in the newsletter.

Traffic Pattern at Brook Park:

Please use the main entrances as the only morning drop off zone (Door #1 and #21). Your child should be on the passenger side of the car and be ready to exit as soon as you reach the drop off zone. When your child has exited, please proceed to the stop sign at 30th and Raymond. A reminder that during pick-up and drop-off Raymond Avenue is a one way going south. St. Louise is once again putting up the one way sign so cars should be able to use both sides of Raymond to turn right or left accordingly. If you need to supervise your child, you should park your car in a legal parking space and walk him/her to his/her line. The school day begins promptly at 8:00 am. All children can enter the classroom at 7:45 am. Arriving early prevents your child from being tardy. Be sure to allow extra time when there is snow or other inclement weather. Please share this information with everyone who transports your child to school.

After school pick-up will remain the same with two pick-up spots on Raymond. Kindergarten will exit their specific Kindergarten doors, First and Second will be picked up by the office doors (Door #1), and Third, Fourth and Fifth will be picked up by the small gymnasium door (Door #21).

Please also do not bring dogs to drop off or pick up as students may have an allergy or fear of dogs.

Social Emotional Learning (Week of 10/18):

This week, students were introduced to the Strong Start (grades K-2) and Strong Kids (grades 3-5) curricula.  Lesson 1 provided students with an overview of the curriculum.  Lesson 2 started a discussion on feelings/emotions.  See the attached bulletins for more information!

Halloween Happenings at Brook Park: October 29th

Halloween will be a special celebration at Brook Park School. On Friday, October 29, children will be allowed to dress for school. In order to ensure the safe passage of our children to/from school and preserve part of the academic day, we have established the following guidelines:

-This year students will not be allowed to give any type of items to classmates.

-Children may wear his/her complete costume to school for the entire day. They do not have to take it off and change into different clothes.

-Students will be allowed to wear face paint or color their hair as part of their costumes; must arrive like this, they cannot do this at school.

-Toy weapons will not be allowed as part of a costume.

-Shoes must be worn at all times (gym shoes are recommended).

-Students are not required to dress in costumes or participate in the activities.

-Please let your child’s teacher know if they will not be participating in the Halloween activities.

We would ask for your cooperation and support in our attempt to have a safe and fun filled day.

The annual Halloween Parade will start at 8:45 and will be weather dependent. We will take a lap around the building starting at Door #1 (heading toward the playground) and entering the building again at Door #21. Parents are welcome to socially distance themselves around the parade route. Unfortunately there will not be a parent party with parent volunteers but the teachers will make it a special day and the Brook Park Council is supplying a craft for every grade level.

Please email [email protected] or [email protected] if you have any questions.
