BP Weekly Newsletter 1-9-2022

Superstar families,

We hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable winter break and had a ton of time to connect with your family. It was great to welcome all of our students back this week, despite the very cold weather. Here are some things looking ahead:

Kindergarten Enrollment:

Kindergarten Enrollment for the 2022-2023 School Year is almost here! Online enrollment will open on February 1, 2022. This will be the first step to complete. There will be an in person Kindergarten Enrollment event on February 18, 2022 at Brook Park to bring in the required documentation. Sign up link coming soon!

MAP Testing:

Grades K-5 will be taking the Winter MAP test beginning next week. We will be attempting to have our students that are on quarantine in grades 1-5 take the MAP test from home. Parents, please do not assist your children on the test because this test helps to show progress that students have made since the beginning of the year, plus help us make new instructional groups.

SEL Blurb:

In this week's SEL lessons, students in kindergarten through second grade learned about understanding the feelings of others.  Students in third through fifth grade learned more about common thinking errors and strategies to challenge negative thinking.

BPC:

More than 500 stuffed animals were donated by the Robison family & PetSmart. A stuffed animal made its way home before break with every student in ECE, Kindergarten, and first and second grades. Thank you Robison family!

Our Brook Park Community Cookbook was such a popular hit last year, we’re bringing it back..but in a print version instead! Now through January 28th, submit your favorite family recipe or tradition, and a photo (optional) of your Superstar student making the dish or showing your traditions. Your name will be entered into a raffle for a $50 gift card (pulled at random). Every grade will have a winner (ECE through fifth). Tell us why this recipe is important to your family! Share why you enjoy your traditions! Did this start with you or has it been passed down to you? We know life can be too busy and over scheduled at times, so if there’s a local business or restaurant you use to pick-up a special meal, please feel free to share that also! Hurry and get those entries in via the Google form!

Community Offerings:

It’s time to register for winter fun at Brookfield Parks and Rec! We have sports classes, art classes, early childhood classes and family events. Click on the link below to find a fun program for your child! https://web2.myvscloud.com/wbwsc/ilbrookfieldwt.wsc/splash.html
