BP Weekly Newsletter 3-25-22

Superstar Families,

We had an awesome week at Brook Park and it was so nice to see so many of you at the book fair on Wednesday night! One of the best quotes about the book fair during the day was from a second grader, “thanks Mrs. King, this was the best day ever!” It is so nice to start to bring back many of the special events that have made Brook Park such a wonderful school for so many years. We hope everyone has a relaxing spring break next week and is ready for a great rest of the year. There are a few important items before spring break starts including IAR testing that will take place right after break.

IAR Testing:

IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) testing will take place the next two weeks after spring break (April 4-April 15). Third, Fourth and Fifth grade will be taking two Reading tests and three Math tests and grades K-2 do not take this state required assessment.

The schedule is as follows:

Grade 3

10:35-12:05 ELA (4/6 and 4/8)

10:35-11:50 Math (4/7, 4/12 and 4/13)

Grade 4

9:30-11:15 ELA (4/7 and 4/8)

9:30-10:45 Math (4/12, 4/13 and 4/14)

Grade 5
11:30-1:00 ELA (4/5 and 4/6)
11:30-12:30 Math (4/7, 4/12 and 4/13)

This test is taken on the students Chromebook and it is important that it is charged daily.  As always, our school goal is that the students perform their best on the test.

During the IAR Test gum chewing or having mints will be allowed. We will provide sugar free gum (Orbit/Eclipse) and mints (LifeSavers Wint O Green mints/Bob’s Sweet Stripes Peppermint Candy)  but you also can have your child bring their own to enjoy during testing. After the testing is complete, gum and candy will not be allowed during class time.

You can help your child to do his or her best by following these guidelines:

Make sure he/she gets ample sleep.

Provide a nutritious breakfast each morning.

Be Prompt.  School begins at 8:00.

Send your child to school with a smile, a hug and just ask them to try their best!

As always, we appreciate your support and cooperation. Please contact Mr. Sorensen with any questions.

Spring Pictures

Spring Pictures will take place on Wednesday, April 13th. There is no pre ordering of pictures. The students will receive a proof that will come home later in order to purchase the pictures online.
