BP Weekly Newsletter 5-27-2022

Superstar families,

We know this has been a very difficult week with the tragic event that happened in Texas. Students safety will always be our number one priority. As Dr. Kuzniewski stated in his email, we have an excellent relationship with our local police departments and will continue to take a proactive approach to keeping our students safe. We understand this is an incredibly difficult event to discuss with your children. If you are looking for a resource to help with this type of conversation,  we have attached something that was shared with us about ways to talk to every age children about talking to children about violence.

While all of us navigated through the range of emotions this week, our inside K-2 parties were a huge success and the students had a wonderful time! We also enjoyed seeing many of our students participating in our Superstar celebration theme days. Please take some time to read about some important items for our last(!) week of school:

Device Collection:

We will be collecting all of our student devices on Wednesday, June 1st. This gives us time over the summer to update them, clean them and have them ready to go for next school year. Please be sure to have your child bring their device, case and charger on Wednesday, June 1st. We will send a reminder Tuesday night.

SUPERSTARS Celebration:

Don’t forget we have kicked off our SUPERSTAR celebration to celebrate the last ten days of school! Here are the celebration days for next week:

T-Tuesday 5/31- Team Day! Wear your favorite team jersey or hat and play a game!

A-Wednesday 6/1- Art Day! Draw or create a masterpiece of your summer break plans!
R-Thursday 6/2 - Remember the year! Write a note to a future classmate about what they should know about their teacher and grade for next year!

S- Friday 6/3- Sunglasses day! All of your futures are so bright that you have to wear shades!

5th Grade Clap-Out:

On the last day of school, Friday, June 3rd Brook Park School will be having our “Superstar Clap Out” for the fifth grade students.  This is the fourteenth year of this special tradition, where the younger students and staff will cheer/clap for the fifth graders as they take one final lap around the hallways of Brook Park School. This will begin at 2:20 and will end around 2:35 when the students exit through the outside doors (21) by the gym.  Parents are welcome to line the sidewalk outside the gym doors to help with the celebration.  Fifth grade students that take the bus will be led out to their usual bus but still exit through the gymnasium doors.  Please send the office/teacher a note if you are changing your child’s dismissal for the day.
