BP Weekly Newsletter 11-11-22

Superstar families,

It was a great short week here at Brook Park and we loved seeing so many of you during Parent Teacher conferences on Monday. There are some things before the weekend so please take a look:

Teacher Gratitude Activity:

With November upon us, we wanted to take some time to show our thanks and gratitude to all of our wonderful teachers and staff members here at Brook Park and we were hoping to ask for your help!

If you have a moment, if you can fill out this Google form with the information, we’ll be creating these into something to give to the teachers and staff members before the week of Thanksgiving.

You can fill out the form multiple times for different teachers or staff members! Thank you for your partnership in helping us recognize our amazing staff during the month of Thanksgiving!

School-Wide Get Caught Reading Campaign:

We are creating an all school display and we need your help. Please take a photo of your child reading and send it to school.  Your child should not pose for the picture, because the whole idea is to “get caught” reading. If your child is reading with/to a family member, stuffed animal,  pet, etc., that is fine.  The whole idea is to capture them reading, anywhere, anytime, with anyone!

SEL Blurb:

This week, students in grades K-2 learned about the ABCs of Positive Thinking (Strong Start Lesson 5) and students in grades 3-5 learned about perspective taking (Strong Kids Lesson 5).  Learn more in our Social Work Corner.

Brook Park Spirit Wear Holiday Sale:

The Brook Park Elementary School holiday sale has begun! Save 20% all November on everything in the store! Choose from hundreds of spirit wear designs and garments, including gift ideas for parents and grandparents. Guaranteed delivery by Dec 23rd! Visit https://1stplace.sale/30385.

Volunteer Opportunity:

Volunteer to be a Picture Person at Brook Park!  Picture Person is returning to Brook Park, and we are looking for 3 -5 parent volunteers per classroom to help present pre-written curricula covering significant American art and artists, with a hands-on activity following.  No teaching or art experience necessary and scheduling is flexible- this is a great way to get involved with your student’s classroom.  Commitments are expected to be around an hour and a half per presentation, including set-up and take-down, and 2-3 total presentations per parent.

See more at https://brookparkpictureperson.shutterfly.com/, or contact the Brook Park Art Teacher,  Stephanie Skertich, [email protected], or Picture Person Coordinator, Renae Yoo, at [email protected], to volunteer.  There will be an orientation meeting the evening of Wednesday, November 30 for volunteers.
