Superstar Weekly Newsletter 2-23-24

Superstar families,

We had a great week here at Brook Park including our amazing through the decades second grade show! There are just a few things before the weekend:

Social Emotional Learning:

This week, students in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade learned about using kind words.  Students in third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade learned about perseverance.  The School Social Work Corner is a great place to visit for more information on what students practice during our school wide social emotional learning lessons.

Family Reading Night:
Family Reading Night is back! Come join us for a fun night of reading, games, and early book fair shopping on Tuesday, February 27. See our attached invitation for more information. Hope to see you there!

5 Essentials Survey:

We are inviting parents to complete the 5 Essentials Survey about Brook Park School and the link is http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ This information is important for us to continue to grow as a school. The survey is open from Jan. 30, 2024 and closes March 29, 2024. We do need 20% of families to participate in order for us to review the data and we are currently at 8%. Please help us reach our goal again this year!

La Grange Park Library

HOORAY FOR LIBRARIES!

Learning resources at La Grange Park Public Library are vast! In this sense, it can be difficult to communicate ALL we can do for you! If you need help on nearly any subject, it’s a safe bet that your library can help.

Today, we highlight a fantastic resource called TumbleBooks! School-aged kids can benefit by improving reading and comprehension skills with this resource. One of our favorite features of TumbleBooks is that many books have a read-along option. This can be utilized on our website 24/7 and it’s free! Teachers, caregivers, and students, click the link above and try it today.

Let’s say it again: "Hooray for Libraries!"

Have a great weekend!
