Technology & Innovation

In preparing students for college, careers, and life generally in the 21st Century, technology is fundamental to the process of learning; helping students access resources from around the world, create their own unique products; and publish their work for others.

To make this vision of using technology in learning come to life, School District 95 has launched Access for All. The focus of the District 95 Access for All initiative is to provide tools and resources to the 21st Century learner. Excellence in education requires that technology be seamlessly integrated throughout the educational program. According to studies and school reports, students who always have access to a computing device in an educational environment are more organized engaged learners, attend school more regularly, advance their knowledge and understanding of technology, and become constructors and designers of information and ideas. Increasing access to technology is essential for that future, and various tools have been made available for these 21st Century learners which access Google Apps for Education and other cloud computing resources. The individualized use of the technology is a way to empower students to maximize their learning and practice 21st Century skills of critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration.

Learning happens from a continuous dynamic interaction among students, educators, parents, and community at large. Technology immersion does not diminish the vital role of the teacher. Effective teaching and student access to a device and resources set up the best conditions for learning.
