Multi-Tiered Systems of Support

A Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a systemic, continuous-improvement framework in which data-based problem solving and decision-making is practiced across all levels of the educational system for supporting students.

The elements of MTSS include:

  • Multiple tiers of instruction, intervention, and support. Includes learning standards and behavioral expectations.
  • Problem-solving process
  • Data evaluation
  • Communication and collaboration
  • Capacity building infrastructure

District 95 has an MTSS team, a process for student referral, tiered programming and we work together with classroom teachers, specialists, coaches, the special education team, support services and administration to make decisions that support student learning.
